During our thorough research, we have read hundreds of reviews from real buyers. This is what most people think of Bissell PowerFresh 1940:

5 reasons to buy

  • Buyers are raving about how easy the Bissell PowerFresh mop is to assemble. It can literally be done in under five minutes, and the water tank is easy to fill up because it is detachable.
  • The mop head and pads are designed in a way so they glide easily over different types of floors.
  • There are different settings for the amount of steam coming out of the mop, and you can adjust it by a press of a button.
  • Weighing only 6 pounds, you’ll have no issues pushing it around your home, and some users go as far as recommending it for stairs too.
  • At the back of the mop head you have an Easy Scrubber gadget for dried-on foods and liquids. Put it to use whenever you need to.

5 reasons not to buy

  • While the steam mop is indeed one of the most popular models available, it does seem to have a durability issue. According to multiple users, it might break or fall apart after a short period, because some parts seems to be of a poor quality.
  • Some buyers think the 23-foot cord is inadequate, and they have to unplug and replug it frequently in order to reach all areas of their houses.
  • Although it has different steam settings, the individual settings seem to be a bit inconsistent – some users have seen anything frum puddles to fine mists while using all settings. It seems as if the settings aren’t as precise at they’re supposed to be.
  • Some customers though the Bissell customer service could be improved.
  • The cap for the water tank seems to be fragile, and some users had issues with cracks that eventually lead to spillage and/or malfunctioning of the water tank.

The Bissell PowerFresh 1940 is a very popular steam mop, and for a reason. It doesn’t cost much, and it seems to do the job satisfyingly for most buyers. It is also easy to assemble in just a few minutes, and the water tank comes off so you can refill it directly under the tap. It glides easily across most floor types, and seems to work especially well on floors that have smooth surfaces. Some issues do seem to appear though, and they are quite consistent through numerous user reviews. Generally the build quality is criticized for being poor, and the customer service of Bissell could use a bit of improvement too. With that being said, you do indeed get a great entry-level steam mop in the Bissell PowerFresh 1940.
