Summary

During our thorough research, we have read hundreds of reviews from real buyers. This is what most people think of iRobot Roomba 780:

5 reasons to buy iRobot Roomba 780

  • This robot is said to work great most floor types, including tiles, hardwood, vinyl, and some types of carpets.
  • Most users found it easy to use and control, either with the included remote or on the top control panel.
  • According to buyers, the maneuvrability is great, making it easily go through each room in a seamingly organized way.
  • Most users found that it easily picks up most types of dirt, dust, debris, and pet hair.
  • The rotating brush works very well along edges, picking up most of the dirt instead of leaving it there.

5 reasons not to buy iRobot Roomba 780

  • The noise level of this robot is said to be quite high, so it works best if it can run when nobody is home.
  • Some users thought the vacuum shut down too quick if encountering an obstacle, leaving it with a blinking error site in a random area of the room.
  • It doesn’t pick up long hairs very well, because they usually get stuck on the rotating brushes. You then need to untangle them manually.
  • According to some users, the robot some times struggles to find back to its docking station before running out of battery, causing it to shut down in a random place around the house.
  • While the remote is definitely nice to have, some users found it unnecessary, since the vacuum minds it own business after getting programmed to a specific cleaning cycle.

Conclusion

According most reviews, the iRobot Roomba 780 is a great midlevel robot vacuum with a powerful suction that gets the job done on most floor types. It is even able to pick up dust and debris along the edges, due to its rotating brush working like a charm. The included remote is a nice touch, however, some buyers found it an unnecessary addition to the ever growing pile of remote controls, as the vacuum works on its own, once it’s been programmed to follow a designated routine. The vacuum is powerful enough to keep the floors clean from pet hair as well, making it a great addition to the regular vacuum cleaner. It doesn’t handle dropped toys and similar small obstacles very well, though, and quite easily gets stuck on those, meaning it will be left with a blinking error symbol when you come back home. Some users found the vacuum struggling to find back to its docking station as well, meaning it would run out of battery and shut down somewhere in the room. All in all, despite its few flaws, this is a great vacuum and probably one of the best purchases among the midlevel models. It is not a high-tech machine as it was released a few years ago, but it still gets the job done in most cases, without the hustle of having to set up apps, wireless connections, etc.
